chestnut hills residence
classically composed This designated historic home in the coveted Ambler Heights neighborhood held a story of a grand past. Together with the homeowners, Dawn sought to fill its stately space with a transitional approach, yet classic enough to pay homage to its roots.
The estate boasted vaulted ceilings and expansive floors yearning for the perfect furnishings to make it feel like home. Dawn drew inspiration from opulent accents—original marble checkerboard flooring and light-green tinted columns. Dawn opted for a desaturated palette and soft texture to complement the historic materials.
Monochromatic walls and molding create continuity in the space. Custom window treatments and bench for added seating and warmth. A grand piano complements the rare violet marble of the fireplace.
Off the living room, a dark retreat. Warm wood, and built-in shelves adorned with books and found treasures define the den. Once gilded, the ceiling was washed white for an elegant finish. The space was furnished with a midcentury modern Knoll sectional—quickly becoming common place for a cozy family commonplace.
